Services on the Internet are supported by worldwide distributed physical information and communications technology (ICT) devices and connected networks. However, there are security issues that are not covered by current information security, Internet security, network security, and ICT security best practices as there are discrepancies between these domains, as well as a lack of communication between organizations and providers in cyberspace.

As such, ISO 27032’s first area of focus is to address cyberspace security or cybersecurity issues that concentrate on bridging the gaps between the different cyberspace security domains.

ISO 27032 provides technical guidance for addressing common cybersecurity risks, including social engineering attacks, hacking, the proliferation of malicious software (“malware”), spyware, and other potentially unwanted software.
